Didn't stay, just met a cousin for a drink and a chat. The bar was just us, one other bloke and the barman. Apparently new owners took over soon after we visited. Was dog friendly in the bar. As the cousin had two dogs perhaps rooms are too?

We had a great welcome from our hosts. Bed was lovely and comfortable had a great sleep. Beautiful area ,Lovely and clean, breakfast was good too even due to the new owners and manager having a very difficult time getting there. Good luck with this new venture and we wish you all the best.

We stayed here for the night and found it a quirky little place. But tired but it is an old building so to be expected.Nice size bar area and room was a nice size also. Very quiet which was nice for a break away. Owner was nice and friendly and welcoming on arrival and also told us about places we could visit nearby if we fancied. Town not too far away and we did manage to get a taxi into town and back, but be careful as there are not too many at weekend. Overall a nice stay and sorry we didn't see the owner on our exit, but wish him well as he is off to pastures new, all the best and thanks, Darren and Sarah

Had a lovely lunch here all had different meals and there was 7 of us not one complaint really nice home cooked pub food would highly recommend the pie menu but be warned it was a big meal staff very friendly seen negative comments about parking but it's a small country village pub definitely the best meal out we had staying in the area all week by far

I'm writing this review as we are heading home. Basic, friendly little pub - the owner was polite and pleasant on all engagement and accommodating to our need We ate there 1 night out of the 2 we stayed, the food was lovely and freshly cooked. The room was basic, everything we needed really, however, both myself and my partner fought over the duvet cover 😂 The ensuite flooring could do with some TLC - but other than that, it was all functioning as it should. We were saddened to hear that the owner is looking to sell and relocate, however wish them all the best. Due to inefficient custom the pub closed at 830pm on a Saturday night - we didn't mind this, we just played cards up in out room and the owner was kind enough yo let us take our drinks upstairs. Beautiful quaint little place it a peaceful village - we wish the current owners all the best for their new adventure.

Very friendly welcome from the landlady and landlord. Nice clean bedroom and excellent breakfast, best breakfast for a long time. Only stopped for one night as we were seeing friends in Hythe but will definitely be booking again next time we come down

We were staying close by in the Castle Cottage (not associated) and this was the local. 100% dog friendly and they are allowed anywhere in the pub. There was a large garden area out the front but we sat inside because of the weather. It's been some time since I've been in a pub with such a lovely wide selection of drinks. Obviously this depends on what you like, but there were local beers as well as Leffe and Blue Moon for example. Same great selection for the gins and vodkas, including premium brands like Grey Goose. the staff we encountered were welcoming and warm, even though we hadn't visited before, and the drinks were priced fairly. We didn't have food, but others were eating whilst we were there and the food looked fine - typical pub style. Sunday roasts available, but again we didn't eat these so can't comment on the quality. I think there are a few unfair reviews of this place as it clearly states it's a work in progress, and it is in a lovely position, but is not in the middle of Hythe. People should make sure they read up on the location and status of ongoing work before booking if this is a concern for them. We were two women having a drink on our own and it couldn't have been more comfortable and welcoming.

We had a lovely overnight stay at The Castle Hotel as a family of four on our way to France for the Olympics . The hosts are very friendly and were really helpful. Breakfast was lovely and it's really well placed for access to the channel tunnel. Would heartily recommend

Warm and friendly welcome. Room adequate for a short break. Bathroom very tired. Breakfast was an additional cost but freshly cooked and the bread/toast was great. Evening meals from a limited menu was again freshly cooked and tasty. Bar staff, especially Karri were great and very helpful. Parking in the village sparse.

Popped in on an impromptu visit as driving past the beer garden just looked quaint and like it would be a lovely place to read my book. I was given a really warm welcome, the team answered all my questions regarding food, I only had the pork bites but they were delicious,(served with just the right amount of apple sauce.) Hadn't tasted the draft fruit cider before,so had that, it was actually one of the nicest ciders I've had. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area (probably for a family day out at Brockhill Country Park.) Guests were checking in to the hotel as I was eating. Again, the team were so welcoming. I didn't see the rooms, but I think when the service shines like it did, they can't be bad at all.

We stayed for a night and ate in the. The welcome was lovely. We were shown to our room where the services were explained. Dinner was plentiful, delicious and reasonable to boot. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast had great portions and was again delicious. Thanks to the entire team and a special thanks to Clare who looked after us and was attentive while working the bar. Our glasses with our evening meal were never empty! I’d recommend the grilled halloumi and my partner the burger! When we’re back in the area we’d definitely stay again. Thanks so much!

The Castle Hotel is in a very nice location in Saltwood. They seem to be the only place that had sky tv, & TNT sports channel. The staff and owners are very welcoming. The place I would say is rustic and very clean. This is very nice place to go for a nice meal & to watch the sports channels. I will certainly be returning. Go try for yourself.
